Technology Day 2025: flexAssistant worker assistance inspires 40 industry representatives in Hagen

This year's SOMA Technology Day for the flexAssistant digital worker assistance system took place at KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik in Hagen on 4 December 2025. Around 40 participants took the opportunity to find out all about flexAssistant AI and its new generation of features. The day offered a varied mix of practical examples, specialist presentations and live demonstrations and showed impressively how modern worker guidance makes production processes more efficient, ergonomic and future-proof.

Insights into smart production at KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik

We would like to thank our colleagues at KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik for giving us a tour of the company as part of the Technology Day. The doors to smart production were opened to the participants and they were able to gain in-depth insights into modern production processes.

Among other things, they were shown how inverters and drive controllers are manufactured and how they are integrated into digitally supported assembly and testing processes. The tour clearly illustrated how industrial digitalisation, automation and worker assistance interact in practice and provided valuable inspiration for the company's own production.

An overview of the business units can be found on the KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik Business Units landing page.

Highlight presentation: Wilo about the Smart Factory Dortmund

A special highlight was the presentation by Stephan Böing, Programme Manager Smart Factory at Wilo SE, who gave an insight into their Smart Factory in Dortmund. The presentation illustrated how modern, digitally networked production environments are created and what role assistance systems such as the flexAssistant play in the implementation of a sustainable production strategy.

Categorisation in the production of today and tomorrow

Michael Penzel, Key Account Manager Worker Assistance Systems flexAssistant at SOMA GmbH, then gave an introduction to the strategic importance of digital worker assistance. The participants were given an overview of how flexAssistant supports companies in making complex assembly processes safer, faster and error-free. The combination of classic worker assistance, artificial intelligence and flexible data utilisation was the focus of the event.

A look beyond everyday production

In a keynote speech, Jens Ellermann, health coach and owner of the Fitness Factory in Lüdenscheid, demonstrated ways to prevent work-related illnesses. This made it clear that modern worker assistance not only increases quality and efficiency, but also supports the health of employees in the long term.
